Pandemic Teen Parenting: A Conversation on the Mental Health of Teens, Parents + Caregivers in 2022 - 03.31.22, 6:30PM - 8PM

$10.00

Join us for a special Be Just Community Workshop: "Pandemic Parenting: A Conversation on the Mental Health of Kids, Parents, and Caregivers in 2022" at the Be Just Classroom in Belmont.  Licensed clinical social worker, Caroline Megargel, will share professional insights into how the pandemic is affecting our children, how we can navigate the mental well-being of our children, and supporting the mental health for those of us in parenting roles. Topics to be discussed may include general mental health trends correlated to the pandemic experience, coping mechanisms, and behaviors or signs that may warrant a need for greater support. Caroline will facilitate a brief question-and-answer segment at the end of the workshop. This workshop is geared for parents and caregivers of kids, ages 11 through 18 years old.

For this workshop, we are asking guests to "pay what you can." All proceeds from registration will go directly to Love No Ego Foundation Inc.  The LoveNoEgo Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation that provides real-world development for youth and young adults ages 10-24, utilizing its principles, Love over Ego, Love over Fear, & Communication over Conflict, helping them to overcome challenges, find purpose, and live their true greatness. This is not group therapy. Due to the sensitive nature of the topics to be discussed, we ask that participants respect the privacy of one another by refraining from sharing the stories of others upon leaving the workshop. We want everyone to feel safe to share and ask questions, should they wish to do so.

About the facilitator, Caroline Megargel, MSW, LCSW:

From Caroline: "Hi! Welcome! I am an individual and family therapist with Virginia Family Therapy who specializes in working with children, teens, and young adults struggling with their mental health, life transitions, parental divorce, and more. I have particular expertise in working with teens struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and disordered eating. I feel so grateful to be able to accompany my clients on their unique journeys. I am passionate about using a collaborative, change-oriented approach with clients to promote growth, and I am committed to utilizing evidence-based practices in effective and creative ways to empower my clients and facilitate change. I love incorporating the outdoors into sessions, and feel that “walking and talking” can be a powerful addition to traditional talk therapy.

I have worked with children, youth, and families my entire clinical career. I have experience working with teens with major mental illness in the day treatment setting, and children with significant emotional disabilities at a school for severe behavioral intervention."
