The Single Origin Collection is the foundation for Ritual's passion for chocolate. Each bar is simple in ingredients, yet crafted to share the bold + unique flavors of the cacao beans they source.
The collection includes the following flavors:
Ecuador
Made with cacao that is carefully fermented and dried by Vicente Norero of Camino Verde in Ecuador. Vicente's unique fermentation techniques, along with his careful sourcing of Nacional cacao from a multitude of growers, give this chocolate its distinguishable, rich, chocolatey flavor.
Tasting Notes: Graham Cracker, Honey & Fudge
Madagascar
The "gateway chocolate" for non-believers. Unbelievably fruity and nutty thanks to unique terroir. Made with organic cacao from Bertil Akesson's farm in the Sambirano Valley in Northern Madagascar. The region is known for producing cacao rich with notes of citrus.
Tasting Notes: Raspberry, Citrus & Peanut
Belize
Made with organic cacao that is grown by a network of Mayan farmers in the Toledo district of Belize. This chocolate has an incredible balance of fruity, earthy, and nutty flavors as a result of the complex genetic makeup of the growing region.
Tasting Notes: Dried Fig, Cherry, & Tobacco
Peru
Made with pure Nacional cacao, one of the most genetically unique beans in the world. The Peru bar is as complex as it is delicate and exceptionally smooth.
Tasting Notes: Floral, Herbal, Toasted Peanuts & Stone Fruit
Mexico
The Soconusco cacao growing region has a chocolate history that is as rich as its flavor is today. This area was one of the main cacao producing regions for the Aztec empire and it’s quality was considered to be the most valuable by the colonial Spanish empire. This chocolate is made with cacao from the Rayen Cooperative, which is a new organization of cacao growers that are focused on quality and continuing the reputation of the Soconusco region as a strong cacao source. This is a region that we have been interested in ever since we began making chocolate because of its unique history and fabled quality. Our first impression of flavor of this origin is extreme nuttiness (imagine the nuttiness of Madagascar chocolate but without all the fruit). There’s a bit of citrus in the flavor, but it definitely takes a backseat to the upfront nutty, woody and chocolate flavors. This coop is extremely small (our smallest origin to date, by a lot!) which means that supply of this origin will be limited.
Tasting Notes: Nutty & Woody with a hint of Citrus
